Private debt investment in Beat Group
Armada Fund V has closed its sixteenth platform investment and provided financing in support of the acquisition of Beat Group by a group of investors advised by Rigeto Unternehmerkapital GmbH. Beat Group is a leading provider of tech-enabled B2B content-distribution and comprises Dance All Day Musicvertriebs GmbH (DAD) and Nova MD GmbH (NMD).
DAD operates the cloud-based content distribution platform “Feiyr”. Through Feiyr, ~1m titles of music, e-books, and audiobooks are distributed on behalf of ~100k artists and authors to more than 100 streaming portals (e.g. Spotify, Audible, Apple Music, Amazon). The focus is on independent, “long-tail” artists.
NMD is offering distribution services for printed books via wholesale and retail (online and stationary), including access to and listing with the book-trade, logistics (including an own publishing house) as well as digital and social media marketing. NMD’s offering is focused on self-publishing authors.
The relevant market growth drivers include increasing streaming-penetration in digital music distribution (DAD) as well as an increasing trend towards self-publishing of books (NMD), which provides authors among others with a higher degree of flexibility and shorter release times.
